Natural Language Processing - NLP

The course introduces Natural Language Processing, NLP. 

NLP methods are described in the course in order to process texts in written natural language. Concepts such as syntax, semantics and pragmatics for natural languages are explained.

The course provides a description of the standard NLP methods available for text processing. The methods can be both rule-based and machine learning-based. Results from the NLP methods must be evaluated, the course will describe different evaluation methods. The course covers examples of applications within NLP.
 

The language of instruction is English.


Teaching Format

The teaching activities in the course are: lectures, laboratory works, supervision sessions and seminars.


Assessment

The course is examined as follows:

  • on-campus examination and
  • assignments.

The schedule will be available no later than one month before the start of the course. We do not recommend print-outs as changes can occur. At the start of the course, your department will advise where you can find your schedule during the course.
Note that the course literature can be changed up to two months before the start of the course.
