Qualitative Research Methods: Data Generation and Analysis
The course introduces students to qualitative research methods. It provides both theoretical and practical nowledge.
The course addresses what characterizes qualitative research within the social sciences, as well as different types of qualitative sampling methods, data materials (such as interviews, documents, and observational material), and commonly used techniques. The course places particular emphasis on interviews and the analysis of interview data. Students apply the methods by generating interview data material, which is subsequently organized, coded, analysed through thematic analysis, and presented in an academic manner. Students are provided with the tools needed to analyse qualitative data using qualitative software. Students are also given knowledge of how the quality of qualitative research can be assessed, and engage with in-dept training in academic writing on research methods and findings.

Assessment
The course is examined through an individual oral examination conducted in a group setting and through practical and written assignments.
