Master´s Thesis in Demography
In the course the student will acquire the ability to independently carry out a research project with demographic relevance and report the outcome in a thesis.
The course is provided at full-time basis the last ten weeks of the Master's programme in Demography (60 credits).
Within the framework of the thesis course, you will independently investigate and analyze a research question of demographic relevance that you choose yourself.
Teaching Format
Teaching is provided via an introductory seminar, thesis supervision, mid-term seminar and a thesis seminar.
Assessment
The thesis is presented at a public seminar by the author and critically reviewed by an examiner. All students are expected to participate at three thesis seminars as well as to provide a thorough discussion of another student’s thesis at one seminar. Ordinary time-slots for thesis seminars are: May- June, August-September, December-January.
Examiner
The schedule will be available no later than one month before the start of the course.
We do not recommend print-outs as changes can occur. At the start of the course,
your department will advise where you can find your schedule during the course.
Note that the course literature can be changed up to two months before the start of the course.
