National and Global Equality Policies: Goals and Instruments
Starting from research on equality policy in the Nordic countries, this course will widen the perspective towards the global scene. The interaction between discourse and policy will be studied at the national level as well as at the many new arenas of decisions-making at the continental (e.g. EU and AU) and the global level (e.g. UN, WTO and the World Bank). Within the framework of feminist theories of the state and theories about social movements facing globalization, we will also study the reactions from the women’s movements and other NGO’s and IGO’s to the new global challenges.
Teaching Format
The course is based on seminars.
Assessment
The course is examined by a take-home examination.
