Early Childhood Education: Focusing Mathematics and Technology
The course is part of the programme in Early Childhood Education, semester 3.
The course deals with an exploratory project-oriented approach that meets children's own way of exploring mathematics in everyday life. In the course, we work with basic mathematical concepts and relate them to didactic perspectives on number perception, speech understanding and time and space perception. We address mathematics as a language and how aesthetic expressions can be used as language/communication in a learning perspective in mathematics.
We also examine the relationships between mathematics, everyday phenomena in our immediate environment and our own identity, from a gender perspective. The course also provides an introduction to the field of technology. Technology is considered in the course as a human activity that aims to solve problems.
For more information, please refer to the course description, which will be available no later than one month before the course starts. A detailed study plan is available on the course website on the Athena learning platform, which you can access once you have registered for the course.
