Consultations on academic writing and study skills
In a consultation at the Academic Writing Service you can get advice from specialists who can help you to develop your writing skills and study more effectively.
It was the best ever support. I got tips and advice that helped me to see my text with new eyes.
In a one-on-one consultation you can get advice on academic writing, study skills and presentation technique. You can also get feedback on essays, theses and other English-language texts. For written assignments, we are able to read and give feedback on approximately two pages of text. For research theses, it is possible to discuss more of your work over a number of meetings. In all cases, we do not proofread or correct texts but instead aim to give you feedback that will help you to improve the work yourself. Consultations normally last 45 minutes.
You can book a consultation by filling in a booking form, accessible through the link below. Make your booking as soon as possible as there is often high demand for appointment times. After making your booking, please send a copy of your text to email@example.com. If you are writing your thesis with a partner, we can see you both in the same appointment.
During our drop-in times you can receive quick advice on academic writing and study skills. You can also drop by to get information on events and activities at the Academic Writing Service.
A drop-in consultation lasts around 15 minutes. You can get the most out of your consultation by having some questions prepared or by thinking about which aspects of your text you would like to improve. You should bring a printed copy of the text with you.
Time: 2pm to 4pm, Tuesdays, during the semester
Location: rooms 155-160, level 1, Studenthuset B
We can give you distance support if you are enrolled in a distance program at Stockholm University or study at the university part-time (maximum 50%). As with face-to-face consultations, we are able to read up to two pages of your text. We will not correct your text for you, but we will give you feedback that you can use to develop the text on your own.
Request distance support by using the booking form, accessible through the link below. In the form, you will be asked to upload your text and specify which aspects of the text you would like feedback on. After you have submitted your request we will contact you with a suggested time for an online meeting.
