Non-European traineeship with Erasmus+

As a student at Stockholm University you can apply for an Erasmus+ grant for an internship or work placement at a company or organisation in of the Erasmus+ programme countries.

During the autumn semester 2025, we are offering a limited number (5) of grants for SU students who, within the framework of their study programme, carry out an internship outside of the European Union.

Requirements

The traineeship shall:

  • Be at least 60 days (excluding travel days)
  • Be connected to an internship course at Stockholm University during the fall semester 2025
  • Held within the period 2025-09-01 – 2026-01-16
    Later start date within the established period is possible.
    A later end date than 2016-01-16 is not possible.
  • If the traineeship will be carried out at a university (research centre, laboratory or similar connected to a university) outside of the European Union, an Erasmus agreement between the receiving university and your home department needs to be in place.

In order to apply for the Erasmus grant, the applicant shall:

  • Fulfil the Erasmus+ traineeship requirements.
  • Have passed at least 30 hp credits at SU.
  • Study full-time (30 hp credits) at SU during the spring semester 2025.
  • Submit a complete application no later than the application deadline.

Funding

The Erasmus+ scholarships is based on the number of days carry out an internship physically on site in the host country. Traineeship days carried out remotely from Sweden or another country are not basis for the grant.  Travel days to and from the host country are not basis for the grant either. 

Travel support grant

Between 28 and 1735 EUR depending on the distance between Stockholm and the city where the traineeship takes place.
Traineeships in the following country do not qualify for travel support grant: Andorra, Faroe Islands, Monaco, San Marino, Vatican City State, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

Erasmus grant

700 EUR per month / 23,33 EUR per day

For the following countries, special amounts apply:

  • Andorra, Monaco, San Marino and Vatican City State
    660 EUR per month / 22 EUR per day
  • Faroe Islands, Switzerland and United Kingdom
    710 EUR per month / 23,66 EUR per day

Erasmus top up grant for students with fewer opportunities

Students with long term disabilities or student with children can receive an extra top up in addition to the original grant amount. Read more about Support for students with a disability and about Support for students with children

Selection

Complete application on a first-come, first-served basis according to the time the complete application has been received.

Application procedure

Application period: 1 – 30 May 2025

Apply through MoveON.  Select the application form “Application form for Erasmus+ non-European traineeship” (please note that the application is only available during the application period).

A complete application consists of the following documents:

  • Completed and signed Learning Agreement for Traineeships – non-European
  • Ladok Certificate of Registration (including all the courses you are studying during the spring semester 2025)
  • Ladok Official Transcript of Records (that show at least 30 hp credits from SU at the time of application)
  • OLS language certificate  
  • If the traineeship will be carried out at a university (research centre, laboratory or similar connected to a university) outside of the European Union: a copy of the Erasmus+ agreement
