Selection groups at Stockholm University
Based on your previous merits you can be a part of one or several selection groups for programs and courses at Stockholm University.
The selection for each education is specified in the course catalogue.

Selection groups
BI – Upper secondary degree without top-up or retakes
In this selection group, applicants compete with a full final grade from upper secondary school who have not had to top-up or retake their qualification in order to be eligible.
BII – Upper secondary degree with supplementary documentation
In this selection group, applicants compete with a full final grade from upper secondary school who have had to top-up or retake their qualification in order to be eligible.
BF - Study assessment from folk high school
Applicants with a study assessment from a folk high school compete in this selection group.
HP - Results from Swedish Scholastic Aptitude Test (SweSAT)
In this selection group, applicants compete with results from SweSAT. This test is carried out in Swedish. The result must be at least 0.05 and at most five years old. Keep in mind that a result from a SweSAT carried out during the spring semester cannot be used for selection to a summer course the same year.
APS - Higher education credits (undergraduate level)
In this selection group, applicants are ranked based on the number of completed higher education credits. All higher educational credits must be completed no later than the application deadline. A maximum of 225 higher education credits can be included.
APM - Higher education credits (advanced level)
In this selection group, applicants are ranked based on the number of completed higher education credits. All higher educational credits must be completed no later than the application deadline. A maximum of 270 higher education credits can be included.
INT - Weighted assessment of various factors
In this selection group, applicants are ranked based on a weighted assessment of one or more of the following factors: grades in higher education, quality of degree project, relevant professional or research experience, personal motivation letter, relevant previous studies, reference letter, research ideas for essay, interview and / or entrance exams. It is stated in the course catalogue which factors are used for the course or program you have applied for.
PG/PGIU - Place guarantee
For all eligible applicants who have applied before the application deadline.
ÖS - Other eligible applicants
Applicants who are qualified but do not have a grade or a valid merit rating are placed in this selection group. Applicants in this selection group can only be admitted if there are places left after applicants with a valid merit rating have been offered a place for the course or programme.
Applicants in the selection group ÖS are ranked randomly.
All Swedish speaking applicants without merit rating applying for first-cycle courses and study programmes are recommended to take the SweSAT in order to be able to compete in another selection group.
SA - Late notifications
Applicants who have made a late application are placed in this selection group. Applicants are ranked based on application date.
Individual assessment/review
According to the Higher Education Ordinance (Chapter 7, Sections 16 and 27 HF), a higher education institution may in individual cases deviate from the selection criteria that are stipulated. This may only take place if an applicant's qualifications cannot be assessed in an appropriate manner according to the other selection criteria that exist and if the applicant through previous education, work experience or any other circumstance has special knowledge or otherwise special conditions for the education.
An application for individual assessment /review can be made in connection to applying for a course or programme at Stockholm University. The application must reach the Admissions office at Stockholm University no later than the application deadline.
