On this page you will find instructions for downloading and installing MatLab. In order to access certain information, such as activation keys, you must be registered in Ladok as an active student at Stockholm University.

Download and install

Create an account

Go to Mathworks and create an account. Note that when providing your e-mail address, you must use your @student.su.se address and not your private e-mail address.

When you have created an account, you will receive an e-mail from Mathworks prompting you to verify your e-mail address > click on the link in the e-mail > done.

Downloading

To download MatLab, click here. Cilck on Add license (you will find it in the upper corner) > select Associate by Activation Key > select Continue.

Enter the activation key which you obtain here > select Continue. Select the latest release > choose platform > the installation file will be downloaded > open the downloaded file.

Installation

Start the installation by clicking on Run > this will take a while.

Log in with Mathworks Account, i.e. your student e-mail address > choose Next. Click on Yes and then on Next. You must then mark Select license and click on Next. Select all products and click on Next. Select Install > then click on Finish > a new window will pop up > click on Next. The computer's name is filled in automatically > click on Next > click on Confirm > click on Finish > the installation is complete.

Verification

Verify the installation by checking that the program starts nomally. The exact details of what you need to do depends on the platform you are using. If the program does not start, re-install the software in accordance with the above.

Renewing the license

The installed program has full functionality up until 31 October, the annual renewal date. This means that your software license must be renewed by 1 November. You will notice this when you are asked to enter a new activation code. If the activation code is not renewed by the annual renewal date, the program vill continue to function for a further 30 days, but with a message that the activation code needs to be renewed.

Uninstalling the program

Once you have completed your studies, you must uninstall the program. The exact details of what you need to do depends on the platform you are using.
