Where can an MSc/master degree in the sciences take you?

Scientists and mathematicians have a broad labour market and can be found in a wide variety of professional positions. Some move on to research, while others begin working in the private sector or in education.

Career fair in science

Every year, the Faculty of Science and the Natural Sciences Faculty Club organise a career fair that offers a great opportunity to gain insight into the broad labour market for science students. Participation is free of charge – both for students and exhibitors. Students have the opportunity to meet companies, recruitment agencies and organisations in need of scientific skills, as well as formers students sharing their experiences.

Hear from our alumni

Curious about where your programme could take you after graduation? Here you can read about our alumni – former students – and their paths after studying. Why did they choose to study science, what parts of the programme did they enjoy most, what are they doing today, and what tips would they give to other students?

Hear from our alumni

The latest alumni survey at the Faculty of Science was conducted in 2019. The report covered 1 537 people who graduated or did thesis work at the Faculty in 2014-2017. The survey shows that:

  • Only four per cent of new graduates were seeking employment at the time of the survey.
  • More than 90 percent of science and mathematichs graduates were satisfied with their education.
  • Three out of four considered their education relevant to their current profession.
  • Common skills learnt from the education include subject knowledge and the ability to critically interpret and discuss problems.
