What is the impact of climate change on glaciers?
Education and research are closely linked at Stockholm University. As a student, you will have direct contact with leading researchers in your field and access to the most recent scientific findings.
Meet Nina Kirchner, a professor of glaciology at the Department of Physical Geography and director of Tarfala Research Station, Sweden’s only alpine Arctic research station. Her research focuses on how ice sheets and glaciers behave in the past, present and future, with a particular interest in the mass balance of Swedish glaciers and the processes that control calving where glaciers meet the sea.
She teaches about glaciers, climate and the cryosphere at Stockholm University and brings data and insights from ongoing fieldwork in the Kebnekaise mountains and polar regions directly into the classroom, giving students a first hand view of how glacier research helps us understand climate change.
