Arrival Information
This page helps you prepare for your arrival and check-in at student accommodation provided by Stockholm University. It covers key collection, travel information, mandatory home insurance, and the university’s Arrival Service.
Information regarding your accommodation can be found on your housing area web page. Additional information is sent by email. Please make sure to check both regularly.
Key pick-up
You can collect your key from the first day of your accommodation contract. It is not possible to collect it earlier.
Keys are handed out at the Service Centre (Södra huset, house D, floor 4). You must present a valid passport or national ID card when collecting your key.
- 11:00–20:00 on the first two days of your tenancy agreement (autumn semester)
- 10:00–20:00 on the first day of your tenancy agreement (spring semester)
Arriving later?
If you arrive later than the start date of your contract, your key will be available for collection at the Service Centre Frescati during regular opening hours.
If you are arriving outside opening hours, please contact the Housing Office in advance for assistance and further instructions.

Home insurance
Home insurance is mandatory if you are staying in university-arranged accommodation and must cover your entire rental period. It is also strongly recommended if you are renting on the private market.
Getting to Stockholm and Stockholm University
Stockholm has several airports with convenient connections to the city centre. Once you have arrived in Stockholm, you can easily reach Stockholm University by public transport.
Arlanda Airport (65 km north)
You can travel to Stockholm Central Station by the Arlanda Express train (18 minutes), the Flygbussarna airport coach, or the SL commuter train operated by SL (Stockholm’s public transport company).
Skavsta Airport (100 km south)
Take the Flygbussarna airport coach to Stockholm Central Station.
Västerås Airport (110 km west)
Take the Flygbussarna airport coach to Stockholm Central Station.
From Stockholm Central Station to Stockholm University
From T-Centralen (the main metro hub, located next to Stockholm Central Station), take the red metro line (line 14) towards Mörby centrum and get off at Universitetet station.

Arrival Service
The Arrival Service is the university’s first welcome activity for new international students. Staff are present at Arlanda Airport and Campus Frescati, with shuttle buses running regularly between the airport and campus.
