According to your signed housing agreement, you are responsible for leaving your accommodation in the correct condition when moving out. Follow the checklist below carefully to avoid additional charges.

1. Remove all personal belongings

  • Take all your personal items with you.
  • The only items you are allowed to leave behind are clean and undamaged bedding, cleaning supplies and functioning internet cables and routers.

2. General cleaning

  • Floors and walls: Sweep and mop the floors, baseboards, and sockets. No dust or dirt should remain.

  • Radiators: Clean the front, back, and underneath.

5. Shared spaces (if you lived in a shared accommodation)

  • All common areas must be as clean as the rest of the apartment.
  • Sweep, mop, and clean according to the checklist above.

Once everything is done

  • Walk through the accommodation one last time.
  • Make sure you haven’t forgotten anything.
  • Take photos of the rooms as proof that they were cleaned properly.

All student accommodations will be inspected either during tenancy, prior departure, or after the tenant has moved out. More information regarding the inspections are sent via e-mail to all tenants a couple of weeks prior departure. This is to ensure that the accommodation is cleaned properly, all personal belongings are removed and nothing in the room is damaged or needs to be repaired.

If the inspection shows that a room has not been cleaned properly and according to all our instructions, the deposit is not refunded to the tenant. The entire deposit is used to cover the cost for the cleaning service, which is a set fee and does not depend on the amount of cleaning necessary. Therefore, the same cost occurs even for one small dirty area.

If major damages are caused by the tenant (as for example smoking in the room, neglecting mold growth) a cleaning specialist is required to decontaminate the accommodation and the tenant is charged for the extra cost.

If personal belongings are not removed before moving out, an extra cost will also occur and this cost may vary depending on the items that need to be removed.

Please note that it takes time before we can inform you about the result of the inspection.

Deposits are refunded to the same card that was used to pay the deposit. Should you not have this card anymore, please inform us as soon as possible.

Keys must be returned to the key box located outside the entrance D of Södra Huset (on the left side of the revolving door). NOTE! Only the keyring with the keys must be left in the box (do not place the keys in any envelope).

All keys must be returned by the latest at 18:00 on the last day of the housing contract. A late return of the keys will result in extra costs.

It is important to remember to take off any personal key from the keyring before returning the accommodation keys. All private keys returned by mistake are immediately disposed of!

If the returned keyring is broken a fee is charged for replacing all keys.

Entrance with revolving door.
Housing Office key-return-box is found next to the entrance D of Södra Huset (left side of the revolving door).
