Housing application – exchange students
If you are admitted as an exchange student, you will receive an email from your international coordinator with information on how to apply for accommodation.
You will receive an email from your international coordinator with instructions on how to apply:
- by mid-May if your studies begin in August (autumn semester)
- by mid-October if your studies begin in January (spring semester)
If you don’t receive the email, contact your international coordinator.
Eligibility
To apply for university-arranged accommodation, you must
- be admitted as an exchange student at Stockholm University
- study full-time for at least one semester.
Application process
The application period opens about three months before the semester begins.
- When you receive the email, follow the instructions carefully.
- Applying early or late within the window doesn’t affect your chances.
- Late applications are only considered if places are still available.

Accommodation preferences
- You must select at least five preferred accommodation options.
- You cannot choose a specific room, and preferences are not guaranteed.
- Use Additional information to note special requests (e.g. not ground floor).

Accommodation offer
If you are eligible and apply on time, you may receive an offer by email.
The process can take two to three months depending on cancellations and availability.
If you receive an offer
- Read the contract carefully.
- Respond before the deadline (only one offer is made).
- No second offers are sent – check your email regularly.
