Housing for international students
Stockholm University offers a limited number of furnished student rooms and apartments for eligible international students. All housing is located in or near central Stockholm and rented per semester.
As university housing is limited, students are encouraged to look for other accommodation as early as possible.
Who can apply
Only certain international students are eligible for university-arranged housing, based on national regulations.
Housing may be offered to
- exchange students studying for at least one semester
- tuition fee-paying students studying for at least one semester
- students with a Stockholm University Scholarship or a Swedish Institute Scholarship, studying for at least one semester.

Other accommodation options

University accommodation areas
All accommodation areas listed here are managed by the Housing Office at Stockholm University.
The rent includes heating, cold and hot water, broadband and electricity. All rooms are furnished.

All housing listed below is part of the university’s student accommodation and rented for one semester at a time. The rent applies to the academic year 2024/2025.

Important dates and rental conditions
Submitting early does not increase your chances. Late applications is considered only if housing remains available. Rent is charged for the entire contract period. Fixed arrival and departure dates apply.
Application period
- Spring semester 2026: 15 to 29 October 2025 (12:00 (Central European Time)
Rental periods
- Autumn semester 2025: 23 August–16 January 2026
- Spring semester 2026: 18 January–8 June 2026
Rent and payment
Rent is paid in two instalments each semester:
- First instalment: Paid when you sign the agreement to confirm your booking. This covers 20 percent of the semester’s rent and your deposit.
- Second instalment: Due one month after the start date of your agreement. This covers the remaining 80 percent of the rent.
If you’re staying for the summer, the full summer rent must be paid in advance.
All payments are made by card via your Accommodation Account. If you have any issues with payment, please contact the Housing Office before the due date to avoid late fees.
