Sporting activities on campus
Sports and exercise is not only beneficial to your health but can also have a positive effect on your study results. As a student at Stockholm University you have a wide range of sporting activities to choose from.
Yoga, football, martial arts, dance, gymnastics or tennis? What type of training suits you? At Frescati Sports Center (Frescatihallen) on campus Frescati a number of training sessions are held every day by Stockholm Students' Sports Association (SSIF).
Stockholm University continues to follow the Public Health Agency of Sweden's COVID-19 recommendations. These measures include staying at home if you have symptoms, keeping a distance and maintaining good hand hygiene. Read more: su.se/english/coronavirus
Frescati Sports Center (Frescatihallen)
Frescati Sports center is a sports facility of about 6,250 square meters with multiple options for physical activity. It is based on campus Frescati, about one minute's walk from the metro station Universitetet and the bus stop Universitetet Norra. The activities are primarily aimed at students and employees at Stockholm University, but are also open to the public, companies and organisations.
You can book courts for badminton, table tennis, floorball and football, among other things. Parking spaces are available in front of the building.
Free drop-in for SUS members (only applies to drop-in, not booked times!)
Stockholm University Student Union (SUS) members can play for free during drop-in times (racket/bat, shuttles/balls, etc. are not included). Bring a SUS card / app and visit the reception in Frescati Sports Center and the staff will help you. More information can be found on the Stockholm University Student Union's website:
Stockholm Students' Sports Association (SSIF)
SSIF is a sports association for Stockholm students that was founded already in the 1930’s. For many years the association has been open to everyone aged 18 and above, but the main target group has always been students.
SSIF offers membership cards that include instructor led training in more than 30 different types of sporting activities. There is a weekly class schedule including gymnastics, Les Mills, badminton, basketball, table tennis, dance, football, fencing, floorball, kick boxing, skating, cross-country skiing, running, diving, swimming, tennis, volleyball and yoga. The prices for membership are especially beneficial for SU students.
Fitness24Seven runs a new state-of-the-art gym in the facility. The almost 600 square meter gym houses freeweight floors, strength machines, stretching department and cardio machines. Read more about Fitness24Seven's student discounts etc. on their own website (in Swedish):
If you prefer to work out in the open there is also an outdoor gym at the Frescati campus. It is open to the public and located between Bloms paviljong and Frescati Backe, a few minutes walk away from Frescati Sports Center.
