  • Food trucks get a new location 2018-10-16 From September 4th, there are two food trucks in the university area. They have been stationed between Gréen's Villa and Arrhenius but are from now on located at the entrance to Arrhenius, houses A-C, in Frescati.

The construction of the Universitys new service desk is now started 2018-08-24 Next to the Stockholm University Library in Södra huset, floor 4, the construction of the Universitys new servicedesk has now begun. The work will cary on in to the autumn and will open in the enda of the year 2018/2019.

  • Information regarding the terrorist attacks in Paris 2015-11-15 On Saturday, Stockholm University contacted students who are on exchange at French universities. The students were given information about support and were invited to get in touch with their departments. There are no indications that any exchange student from Stockholm University has been damaged. In addition, incoming exchange students from France, now studying at Stockholm University, were contacted with offers of support.

They received a lot of practical information about their forthcoming lives as students at Stockholm University. Many were excited about being in Sweden for the first time and had high expectations.
  • A warm welcome to international students 2015-08-24 Over the weekend, a majority of the international students who will be studying at Stockholm University started arriving in Stockholm. The students were greeted by student guides at the airports and free shuttle buses were organised from Arlanda airport.

  • Throne from "Game of Thrones" came to Stockholm University 2015-02-20 On Friday 20 February students and employees had the chance to sit on the famous throne from the TV series Game of Thrones, which was placed in the foyer outside the Frescati Library today. Game of Thrones fan Lennart Magnusson, who works at the University's IT Services, won a Warner Brothers competition, with the result that he got to have the throne for a day.

  • Johan Kuylenstierna Sweden’s top environmental influencer 2014-03-26 Two scientists at Stockholm University have been named as the top two environmental influencers in Sweden, according to the Swedish magazine Miljöaktuellt, "Environment News". The top influencer is Johan Kuylenstierna, Director of the Stockholm Environment Institute and Adjunct Professor at Stockholm University. The number two influenser is Johan Rockström, Director of the Stockholm Resilience Centre and Professor of Environmental Science at Stockholm University.

Photo: Chad Finley Swedish researchers in physics breakthrough 2013-12-17 Swedish researchers from Stockholm University and Uppsala University have played a significant role in the IceCube research project, dubbed by Physics World as the “breakthrough of the year”. Scientists have made the first observation of cosmic neutrinos, thereby opening “a new window on the universe”.

Successful visit to China during autumn 2013 2013-12-03 There was a great interest in Sweden and Stockholm University when a group from the University visited Beijing and Shanghai in early November. The purpose of the visit to China was to spread information about the educational opportunities that the University offers to international students. Among other activities the Stockholm University team participated in the China Education Expo, an international recruitment fair with 60,000 visitors in five Chinese cities.
  • Ylva Sjöberg, Executive Secretary 2013 and Co-chair of APECS Sweden, is a PhD-student at the Department of Physical Geography and Quaternary Geology, Stockholm University Researchers met the Olympic torch at the North Pole 2013-10-28 Stockholm University PhD student Ylva Sjöberg is currently returning from the North Pole, having been on a rather unusual mission. Ylva visited the North Pole as a representative for Sweden when the Olympic torch passed through on the way to the Winter Olympics in Sochi.
  • American genetics students are back again 2013-08-21 Last year in August, 25 students from the University of California Davis (UC Davis) attended a genetics course at Stockholm University and Cambridge University in England.
  • Rune stone rediscovered after 300 years 2013-04-26 A nearly 1,000 year-old rune stone has been rediscovered at Bogesunds brygga west of Vaxholm. The rune stone was found during an excursion which was part of a course in landscape archeology at Stockholm University.
  • Visit from American genetics students 2012-09-06 For four weeks in August, 25 students from the University of California Davis (UC Davis) are attending a genetics course at Stockholm University and Cambridge University in England.
