Individual consultations in academic writing and study skills

In an individual consultation you can ask questions about study skills, study habits, presentation techniques and academic writing. You can also receive feedback on oral presentations or texts you are working on for your studies. For feedback on academic texts, we will read around two pages of text for each meeting. If you are writing a research thesis, we can look at the same text more than once. We do not correct texts but instead aim to give you feedback and tools that you can use to further develop your writing on your own. Consultations normally last around 45 minutes.

You can book a consultation by filling in a booking form, accessible through the link below. Make your booking as soon as possible as there is often high demand for appointment times. After making your booking, please send a copy of your text to If you are writing your thesis with a partner, we are happy to speak to both of you together.

Support for distance students

We can give you distance support for academic writing in English if you are enrolled in a distance program at Stockholm University or study at the university part time (maximum 50%). Depending on what you have requested feedback on, we are able to read up to two pages of your text. We cannot correct the text for you, but we instead aim to give you feedback that will help you to develop the text on your own.

Request distance support by using the booking form below. In the form, you will be asked to upload your text and specify which aspects of the text you would like feedback on. Our feedback consists of comments saved in the document and a short video recording with explanations of the comments. After sending this feedback the distance consultation is considered closed and no further comments will be given on your text. The time it takes us to send you feedback varies according to demand but we are often able to send feedback within a week.
