Important information for tenants staying at Lappis

For more information about the accommodation, area, amenities as well as general rules and regulations please read the attached file located on the bottom of this page called Important information for tenants staying at Lappis. There you can also find a map of Lappis and information on how to get to Lappis with local transport.

Application Information

These corridor rooms are only for single occupancy and they are only available for exchange students. Non-European master students who receive a scholarship via Stockholm University Scholarship Scheme are not allowed to rent one of these corridor rooms even if they choose this on their accommodation application.

You cannot choose a specific room, a specific size or a specific floor on the accommodation application. However, you may specify if you would prefer a small room, a big room, a cheap room, a room on the ground floor, a room not located on the ground floor and so on under "additional information" on the application form.

Important Note! Kitchen renovations are currently taking place in some of the buildings at Lappis. At this time we do not know exactly what kitchens that will be renovated during the Autumn semester 2018. So please note that if you choose Lappis you may be affected by the kitchen renovations. Tenants that are affected will be given a 40% discount during the period they are affected but no other compensation will be given. Also note that during the Autumn semester 2018 SSSB will start building 500 new apartments at Lappis so there will construction work taking place every weekday. All tenants staying in Lappis must be willing to put up with any noise connected to this construction work (there will be no kind of compansation offered).

All corridor rooms are furnished with a bed (size: 200 cm long and 90 cm wide), a mattress, a desk and a chair. Some rooms may have curtains, blinds or extra lamps and chairs which were left by previous tenants for your use.  However, these are not provided by the Housing Office and cannot be guaranteed. You must bring your own quilt, pillow, sheets and towels.

The kitchen is equipped with refrigerators, freezers, private cupboards and a stove (with oven and hot plates). Cooking utensils and dinnerware are not provided by the Housing Office, so you may have to purchase these items.  However, there may be kitchen articles left by previous tenants that everyone that lives in the corridor is allowed to use.

Rent and rent payments

All accommodation is rented out on a semester basis and charged accordingly. There is a possibility of extending the rent contract for one additional semester but only if the student is continuing their exchange studies at Stockholm University.

The rent for one semester is between SEK 18300,00 and SEK 23700,00 and that includes heating, cold water, hot water, electricity and internet (not wifi). Important note! Excessive use of electricity will be charged extra.

The rent will be paid in two installments. For more payment information log into your accommodation account.

The internet is not wireless (no WiFi) so you must purchase or bring your own network cable or router to be able to use the internet. Please note: Network cables or routers from other countries may not work in Sweden, so we suggest you buy it in Stockholm.

Upon arrival you will receive the keys to your accommodation. You are responsible for your keys.  If you lose your keys you must pay for the cost of a lock change which can be as much as SEK 1000,00. Note! You may be required to buy your own padlock for your postbox.

As the tenant you are responsible for your accommodation including damages, even if the damage is caused by a guest. No consideration will be taken in regard to whether the damage is the result of carelessness, an accident or some deliberate act. As the tenant you will be held responsible for payment.

As an exchange student you have a student insurance via Kammarkollegiet which should cover some or all of these costs. This is something you must check with Kammarkollegiet yourself. Neither building owner or Stockholm University can be held responsible for any theft or loss of your personal possessions and this includes your accommodation keys.
