At the fair, visitors got the chance to talk to exchange students currently studying at Stockholm University representing their home universities. “If you spend Christmas in New Zealand you can see Santa Claus wearing no sleeves” says a student representing the University of Auckland in New Zealand.

Stockholm University has exchange agreements and networks at two different levels: the department level and the central level. It offers opportunities abroad for both students and employees. Students can apply to study at one of Stockholm University’s many partner universities or do an internship abroad and develop both, personally and professionally. "Students get the chance to do an internship abroad within their program and not on top of an already stuffed schedule" says a representative of the Department of language education. Staff members of Stockholm University can apply for funding through the teacher and staff mobility of the university to be able to work abroad for a while.

Living in a different country is a fantastic opportunity to try out a new academic environment and to gain understanding for the culture, language, and society of other countries. "Going abroad is an opportunity for the students to escape the Swedish safeness and to go out of their comfort zone in order to grow as a person", says one of the department representatives at the fair. "Even a neighbor country can already be different. Abroad is not at home."
