In order to benefit from centrally funded and discounted APCs:

Publications in full open access journals

A full open access journal (also called “gold open access journal” or “pure open access journal”) is a journal where all articles are open access immediately on publication.

Until further notice, APCs for publications in full open access journals are covered by the library. This to support the transition to 100 percent open access.

With a number of open access journals, you will not be charged the APC or receive an invoice when your article is accepted for publication. Due to the library’s agreements with specific publishers, invoices for articles with an SU corresponding author will be sent directly to the library.

For all other open access journals, you need to contact openaccess@su.se to arrange for the library to pay the APC.

Publications in hybrid journals

A hybrid journal is a subscription-based journal where individual articles may be open access with an APC. All other articles are locked behind a paywall.

Centrally funded APCs for hybrid journals are available with specific publishers with which the library has an agreement that includes the open access costs. With some publishers, SU corresponding authors are eligible to a discounted APC, but it is the author or the department that pays the fee.
