How do I proceed as a corresponding author?

When your article is accepted for publication, you will receive a welcome email from OUP, inviting you to log into the online licensing and payment system, Author Services.

To publish open access free of charge, follow these steps:
(A detailed description of the process is also available at the publisher's website)

  • Log into Author Services using the unique link provided in the welcome email
(If you don’t have an account you need to create one first)
  • On the Manuscript Licenses page, select and complete an OA license for your article (eg Open Access Licence CC-BY)
  • On the Publishing Charges for Your Article page, select Swedish Universities (Bibsam affiliated) from the dropdown list of institutions beneath Open Access Prepayment Account
  • Confirm and complete the subsequent steps in Author Services
  • Please note that other charges such as color figures or offprints are not covered by the agreement

The library will verify your affiliation with Stockholm University and approve to fund the APC. The article will be immediately open access when published.

If you encounter any problems with the process or have any questions regarding open access publishing with OUP, please contact the library at

What’s included?

The agreement includes open access publishing in 313 of the 354 hybrid* journals published by OUP. 41 journals from learned societies are excluded.

* Subscriptionbased journals where individual articles may be open access with an APC.

About the agreement

The agreement is a national “combined OA and subscription" agreement. The APCs are already prepaid, since the agreement includes both the costs of the library's subscriptions as well as the costs of open access publishing. The agreement was negotiated by The National Library of Sweden and in addition to Stockholm University, 32 other Swedish research institutes have joined.

Publishing in OUP full open access journals

OUP publish a number of full open access journals that are not included in the national agreement. As a researcher at Stockholm University you can still publish free of charge in these journals, but you cannot refer the charges to the national prepayment account.

  • If you wish to have the APC for your accepted article in an OUP full open access journal paid for centrally, please contact the library at
