Nine researchers from Stockholm University among the world’s most cited

British-American analytics firm Clarivate annually publishes a list of the world’s most cited researchers. For 2025, nine names from Stockholm University are among the 6 868 on the list.

Nine researchers are, according to Clarivate, among the most cited in the world the last eleven years:

Carl Folke is among the world’s most cited in two areas: Environment and Ecology as well as Social Sciences. Johan Rockström is primarily affiliated with the University of Potsdam, and Max Troell with the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.

Nine names is an increase compared to 2024 (7), and puts Stockholm University in third place in Sweden, following KI (22) and Lund University (11).

Clarivate, known for the database Web of Science, publishes their Highly Cited Researchers list annually since 2014. The complete list is available on their web site, as is the evaluation and selection process.
