Extended tenure for President Astrid Söderbergh Widding

The Swedish Government has decided to extend the tenure of Stockholm University President Astrid Söderbergh Widding starting February 1. Thus, she will continue as President of the university until January 31, 2025.

Astrid Söderbergh Widding has been President of Stockholm University since February 2013. This is the second time she has been entrusted with the task of being President.

– I am both happy and proud to be entrusted with the task of continuing to lead Stockholm University in the coming years. As the largest educational university in Sweden and with our internationally strong and competitive research we have an important task in society, says Astrid Söderbergh Widding.

Astrid Söderbergh Widding is a professor of Cinema Studies at Stockholm University. She has previously held positions as Head of Department, Deputy Dean and Deputy President.

Astrid Söderbergh Widding is, among other things, Chair of the board for the Association of Swedish Higher Education Institutions and Chair of the Bibsam Consortium.
