Great interest in international master's programmes

January 15 was the application deadline in the first application round for international master's programmes at Swedish higher education institutions. Several of Sweden's largest universities show lower application figures for the autumn semester of 2024 compared to the autumn semester of 2023, nationally it was a decrease of 9.8 percent. Stockholm University has not noticed this decrease. The university has 17,456 applicants this year, compared to 17,390 the year before. Measured in the number of first-choice applicants, this is an increase of 3.7 percent to 8,258 first-choice applicants this year. The applicants came from 155 countries.

Master's programme in computer and systems sciences most popular

The Master's Programme in Data Science, Statistics and Decision Analysis was most popular at Stockholm University for the autumn semester 2024 with 1,000 applicants. In second place we find the Master's Programme in Public Health: Social and Individual Perspectives and in third place the Master's Programme in Information Security.

In total, more than 100 international master's programmes will be offered at Stockholm University in the autumn of 2024. Some of the international master's programmes are also open for application during the second application round, which is aimed at citizens of Sweden and other countries within the EU and EEA. The application opens on 15 March.
