Increased number of applicants to international master's programmes at Stockholm University

The number of applications to international master’s programmes at Stockholm University has reached the highest level since 2011 when fees for international students from countries outside the EU/EEA area were introduced.

On January 15, Stockholm University had received 16,842 applications for master’s programmes starting in the autumn of 2021. This is an increase of 13 percent, compared to 2020, and an increase of over 36 percent compared to 2019. The deadline for applicants to pay the admission fee and submit additional documentation was 1 February.

New statistics from UHR, the Swedish Council for Higher Education, indicate a 15 percent increase in the number of applicants who paid the registration fee or demonstrated eligibility for fee exemption, as compared with the previous year.
