Johan Rockström is listed in the "Titans" category together with, among others, Elon Musk, Beyoncé, Lionel Messi and Ozlem Tureci and Ugur Sahin, founder of the Covid-19 vaccine company Biontech.

“I am very honored to be part of the Time100 list. It shows that science matters, not only in research circles, but also outside. In politics, in society, in the whole world”, says Johan Rockström.

TIME's tribute specifically mentions Rockström's pioneering contribution to the concept of planetary boundaries. His work is described as "crucial to understanding the interconnected crises facing our planet and shaping the way forward, guiding leaders on how to turn complex science into clear, quantifiable action".
