Liane Rossi awarded royal professorship in environmental science

Professor Liane Rossi (Universidade de São Paulo) has been awarded the King Carl XVI Gustafs professorship in environmental science (Konung Carl XVI Gustafs professur i miljövetenskap) for 2023/24.

Professor Liane Rossi will be hosted by Professor Belén Martín-Matute at the Department of Organic Chemistry at Stockholm University and will also collaborate with researchers at the Department of Materials and Environmental Chemistry at Stockholm University.

 

Research focused on sustainable catalysis and green chemistry

Professor Rossi´s research is focused on sustainable catalysis, green chemistry, nanomaterials for catalysis, biomass recovery and CO2 conversion into added value products. Her participation in the internationalization of science in Brazil is evident from her work, fundraising, visits to centers of excellence and dissemination. She is a permanent member of the Brazilian Academy of Science and the director of the Carbon Capture and Utilization Program at the Research Center for Greenhouse Gas Innovation.

”In addition to her projection in research and active participation in the training of human resources, her academic and institutional engagement should also be highlighted, as well as her continuous effort to strengthen research on sustainable catalysis in Brazil,” says Professor Belén Martín-Matute.
