Nobel laureates lecture at Stockholm University

18 Nobel laureates visit Stockholm University during this year's Nobel Week. Listen to this year's Nobel laureates in the Aula Magna on Thursday December 8 at KVA's official Nobel lectures.

After a break of two years due to the pandemic, Nobel Week is celebrated again with laureates in place in Stockholm and with the usual festivities. Several of the Nobel laureates will once again give Nobel lectures in the Aula Magna at Stockholm University. These lectures are arranged by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences(KVA).

This year´s Nobel laureates in physics and chemistry, as well as the recipients of the Prize in Economic Sciences, will once again hold their official Nobel lectures under KVA's auspices in the Aula Magna – on Thursday, December 8, starting at 9 a.m.
First to speak are this year's Nobel laureates in physics – Alain Aspect, John F. Clauser and Anton Zeilinger.
At 11:20, chemistry laureates Carolyn R. Bertozzi, Morten Meldal and Barry Sharpless will speak.
At 2 p.m., the laureates in Economic Sciences Ben S. Bernanke, Douglas W. Diamond and Philip H. Dybvig will speak.

Visit by Nobel laureate Annie Ernaux

On Friday 9 December, Annie Ernaux, this year's Nobel laureate in literature, will visit Stockholm University to participate in a conversation about her writing. The conversation takes place in front of invited students and researchers.

 

Visit of the previous year's Nobel laureates

The pandemic meant that the Nobel laureates for 2020 and 2021 could not come to Stockholm and receive their prizes and participate in the other events that usually take place during Nobel week. KVA therefore,in collaboration with Stockholm University, arranges lectures with eight of the previous year's award winners at Wednesday 7 December.

The 2020 and 2021 Nobel laureates in chemistry hold an open lecture at the Museum of Natural History (next to the university) from 1-4 p.m. The speakers are 2020 laureates Jennifer A Doudna and Emmanuelle Charpentier and 2021 laureates Benjamin List and David MacMillan. Read more
During the morning, the chemistry laureates visit researchers and doctoral students in chemistry at Stockholm University and then have lunch with reseachers at Stockholm University.

Three of the Nobel laureates in physics 2021 – Reinhard Genzel, Andrea Ghez and Giorgio Parisi speak at an open lecture at Fysikum in Albanova during the afternoon. Read more

Guido Imbens, one of the 2021 Nobel laureates in economic sciences, participates in an open conversation with, among others, Professor Anders Björklund at the Institute for Social Research, Stockholm University. The conversation takes place at 13-16 in Södra huset. Read more
