Stockholm University ranked first in Sweden within nine subjects in Shanghai ranking

Stockholm University is ranked first in Sweden within nine subjects in ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2021, which was presented at the end of May.

The subject ranking includes 54 subjects and the ranking is based primarily on scientific journal articles indexed in the Web of Science database in the years 2015–2019.
The subjects where Stockholm University received its first placement in Sweden are: Atmospheric Science, Earth Sciences, Geography, Oceanography, Environmental science & Engineering, Economics and Sociology. When it comes to Chemistry, Stockholm University got a shared first place together with Uppsala University and KTH Royal Institute of Technology. Stockholm University also got a shared first place in Education together with Gothenburg University and Karolinska Institutet.
Stockholm University’s best position is in Geography, with place 14 in the world.

The Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) contains rankings of universities in 54 subjects across Natural Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences, and Social Sciences. More than 1,800 out of 4,000 universities across 93 countries and regions are listed in the rankings.
