The Galaxy group

The Galaxy Group at the Astronomy Department investigates how galaxies form and evolve across cosmic time. We combine ground- and space-based observations spanning the full electromagnetic spectrum with advanced theoretical modelling to understand the astrophysics that formed and shaped the galaxies we see today.

About me

I am a PhD candidate in the Astronomy Department at Stockholm University, currently part of the galaxy research group that investigate the formation and evolution of galaxies across cosmic epochs.

I obtained my Master's degree at the University of Milano Bicocca (Italy) with a thesis on ram-pressure stripping in the galaxy cluster A1367.

I am interested in understanding the mechanisms that regulate star formation in galaxies and how they shape the surrounding interstellar medium. Closing the gap between the sub-parsec scales of stars and star clusters and the kiloparsec scales of the multiphase interstellar medium is crucial towards a more complete view of the evolution of galaxies.

My supervisor is Angela Adamo, a world-renown professor and leading expert in the early stages of the star formation. Angela is the principal investigator of the Feedback in Emerging extraGalactic Star clusTers (FEAST) program, an observational proposal which aims to study young stellar clusters and their surroundings in six local galaxies with unprecendented sensitivity and resolution, made possible by the new state-of-the-art JWST (James Webb Space Telescope). As a member of this team, my research focuses on studying the physical and morphological properties of the ionised gas around young stellar clusters (HII regions) and the stochastic dust emission in the photo-dissociation regions by means of near infrared JWST observations of these galaxies. By doing so, we aim to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the multiphase interstellar medium.
