About me

Anders Jacobson has been a doctoral student in Child and Youth Studies since the autumn of 2024.

Anders is conducting a PhD project with the working title “Well-being in Preschool Class and School-Age Educare – Boyhood, Violence, and Care.” The project explores how the youngest pupils and educational staff interact, act, and talk about issues related to well-being, violence, and care. A particular focus is placed on how boys engage with and make sense of these matters, as well as on how girls, non-binary children, and staff perceive boys’ social practices. The study also examines how different boys are approached and interact depending on their identities and backgrounds.

Anders holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Economic History, complemented by studies in the social sciences and humanities, including sociology, political science, philosophy, political ethics, and political theology.

Professionally, since 1998 Anders has worked as a dancer and cultural practitioner, project and operations manager, and civil servant in the public sector. Most recently, he worked with the organisation MÄN (Men for gender equality), which focuses on issues of masculinity and violence prevention. Since 2008, he has also been engaged in various forms of work with children – in children’s culture, as a substitute and support staff in preschools, at summer camps, and as a personal support worker within LSS (Sweden’s Act Concerning Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments).
