Anna Sjöberg Researcher

I am post-doctoral researcher in linguistics, funded by the Swedish Research Council's International Postdoc grant (grant number 2024-00412). For the academic years 24/25 and 25/26 I am based at the Friedrich-Schiller-Universität in Jena, working with professor Volker Gast. My research is mainly within semantic typology and concerns particularly the cross-linguistic expression of knowledge predication, i.e. utterances like 'He knows that it's raining', 'Do you know where the station is?'.

I defended my thesis, Knowledge Predication - A Semantic Typology, in November 2023. It was supervised by professors Bernhard Wälchli and Maria Koptjevskaja-Tamm and won the Greenberg Award for best typological thesis 2024.

In addition and concjunction to semantic typology of complex social meanings, my research interests include language sampling, quantitative methods, corpus based typology and translation.
