Ata Can Bertay Assistant professor

Ata Can Bertay is an assistant professor in Finance at Stockholm Business School, Stockholm University. He is currently on sabbatical leave from Sabancı University, where he has been an Assistant Professor of Finance since 2019 and previously served as Director of the Sabancı University Corporate Governance Forum (CGFT).  His work centers on banking, financial stability, and corporate governance. Earlier, he worked at the World Bank as a Research Economist (2015–2019), where he led the Global Financial Developtment Report, and has held consultant roles with the World Bank, the EBRD, and the Inter-American Development Bank; his visiting appointments include BOFIT at the Bank of Finland (Summer 2022) and the Department of Finance at NYU Stern (2013). He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Tilburg University.
