About me
In my work I use numerical model simulations to understand and describe physical and biogeochemical processes in the Baltic Sea. My background is mainly in physical oceanography, but my research is primarly focused on transports of nutrients, carbon and alkalinity between land, water, and air and also transformations of these substances within the Baltic Sea. One overarching aim of my research is to elucidate how the Baltic Sea has changed in the past and also what changes that could be expected in the future depending on carbon dioxide emissions, climate change, and eutrophication.
My research interests:
- The coupling between physical and biogeochemical processes in the Baltic Sea
- Historical and future changes of carbon and nutrient cycling, deep water oxygen conditions, and ocean acidification
- Cycling of iron, sulfur, and phosphorus in Baltic Sea sediments, impact on alkalinity and pH in the water column
