About me

Francisco Juliá-Hernández is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Organic Chemistry. He was born and raised in Cieza (Spain). Francisco graduated from the University of Murcia (Spain) with a MSc in Molecular Chemistry in 2008. In 2012, he obtained his PhD at the University of Murcia for his work on the synthesis of high‐valent organometallic palladium complexes. Francisco then joined the group of Prof. Igor Larrosa at Queen Mary University of London (UK) where he developed innovative metal‐catalyzed direct arylation reactions. In 2014, he was granted a COFUND postdoctoral grant to work in the group of Prof. Ruben Martin at ICIQ (Spain) uncovering novel carboxylation reactions with carbon dioxide. Francisco started his independent career as an Assistant Professor at Stockholm University in 2018.

Our research group focuses on the invention, design and application of sustainable synthetic transformations of interest for organic chemistry. Our main motivation is to use abundant and inexpensive metals as catalysts to streamline previously unfeasible synthetic routes.
