About me

I am a researcher in Voice Science. My background is in Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology, Music and Linguistics/Phonetics. In addition, I have considerable experience in voice treatment and voice training.

In 2009 I received my Ph.D. in Linguistics/Voice Acoustics from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUCSP), Brazil; this included a scholarship for the doctoral stage carried out in the Department of Speech, Music and Hearing at the Royal Institute of Technology (TMH-KTH).

In 2010 I moved to Sweden and since then I have been involved in various voice-related research projects at KTH as well as in cooperation with other European universities. Since 2015 I have also been part of a research team in the Stockholm University’s Department of Linguistics; our research deals with the question of modelling audio-visual interactional cues throughout the period covering the emergence of the child’s first expressive vocalizations.

My main research interests are in the human voice, particularly the relationships between voice acoustics, voice production and voice perception; the vocal expression of emotions in speech and singing; neurobiological correlates of production and perception of 'emotional voices'; and multimodality in communication.
