This PhD project aims to observe the effects that the secular contact between Castilian Spanish and Aymara has determined in the morphosyntax of Andean Spanish, and in particular to analyze the syntactic and morphological changes caused by the acquisition in Andean Spanish of the linguistic category of evidentiality.

I will try to give an answer to the following questions: What are the processes through which evidentiality has been grammaticalized by Andean Spanish? In comparison to Aymara, by what syntactic and morphological means is evidentiality expressed in Andean Spanish? Compared to Peninsular Spanish, what changes has the acquisition of “data source” engendered in Andean Spanish morphology and syntax?
