Ilaria Maccari Postdoctoral fellow

My research activity focuses on the study of phase fluctuations and topological excitations in condensed matter systems. 
In particular, I have been working on theoretical problems connected to the physics of low-dimensional electron systems and multicomponent superconductors,  looking at the interplay between disorder, superconductivity, and magnetic field. 
My main investigative tool is Monte Carlo numerical simulations of effective low-energy models, complemented by solid analytical skills.
More recently, as a member of the research group led by Johan Carström, I have started investigating quantum frustrated spin systems. The theoretical challenge of dealing with strongly-correlated fermions is faced employing a Diagrammatic Monte Carlo approach.
