Focused Research Initiative in Health Law

The Focused Research Initiative in Health Law at the Department of Law, Stockholm University, is a research platform that brings together scholars from diverse academic perspectives to engage with questions concerning health, rights, and societal development.

About me

I am Professor of Constitutional Law and Associate Professor (Docent) of European Law at Stockholm University. My research focuses on the interaction between national constitutional law, European Union law, and social security law, with particular emphasis on Union citizenship, the coordination of social security systems, fundamental rights, and the relationship between national sovereignty and European integration.

Academic Background

I received my PhD from the Faculty of Law at Stockholm University in 2015 with the dissertation Sovereignty Erosion? The Impact of EU Law on National Social Security Models, with Particular Reference to Sweden, under the supervision of Professor Ulf Bernitz. From 2015 to 2016, I served as Research Fellow at Christ Church, University of Oxford. In 2017, I was awarded a postdoctoral research grant from the Torsten Söderberg Foundation, enabling me to continue my research while serving as Assistant Professor of Constitutional Law at Stockholm University. Since 2021, I have been affiliated with the Faculty of Law at the University of Bergen, Norway, and since 2026 I have held the position of Professor II. I also serve on the Advisory Committee of CENTENOL at the University of Bergen, a position I have held since 2023.
