Storbjörk is involved in the creation and development of new courses and programs at the undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate levels at the Department of Public Health Sciences. She is currently responsible for two undergraduate courses (on addictive substances and behaviors and on public health data collection and analysis) and three graduate courses on welfare state and social policy models and research and on qualitative research methods. In addition, Storbjörk contributes with lectures on stigma, New Public Management (NPM) and neoliberalism, value conflicts in health and welfare systems, and health impacts of welfare policies. 

She supervises masters students and Ph.D. students Tuulia Lerkkanen, who is researching Swedish drug policy, and Elin Holmén, who is researching the Stockholm Needle and Syringe Exchange Program/Karolinska Institutet (KI).

Storbjörk conducts research on alcohol and other drugs with a particular focus on policy, social marginalization and substance use treatment in Sweden and internationally. She is currently leading the research project Risks of injection drug use in a Swedish context: Prevention of harms in practice according to users, treatment staff, and societal actors. The project examines how harm reduction is created and understood in interaction between individuals, groups and social institutions, in the prohibitionist drug policy context of Sweden. She is also part of a long-term follow-up of women and men who enered treatment through social services or regional addiction care in Stockholm 20 years ago. Her involvement with the Stockholm Needle and Syringe Exchange program includes research on Naloxone (antitode in case of opioid overdose) and supervised consumption sites for people who inject drugs. 

Previous projects have focused on the organization and governance of the substance use treatment system and how New Public Management (NPM) affects the daily practice of social services, health care and other private and non-profit actors.
