About me
I am a postdoctoral researcher (2024-2025) working on a project examining Swedish journalist perceptions of constructive journalism. The project also examines the extent to which, and how elections can be covered constructively. The project is graciously funded by Anna Ahlströms och Ellen Stiftelse. Prior to commencing this project, I attained my doctoral degree in journalism from this department in 2023. My dissertation was titled: The Discourse and Practice of Constructive Journalism. In addition to research, I have taught several courses here at IMS touching on both journalism, media and communication disciplines. In addition to teaching and supervisory experience here in Sweden, I also have similar experiences in North American and African educational contexts. I also have some practitioner experience as a journalist in the latter two contexts.
My teaching experience cuts across three geographical contexts: Africa, Europe and North America. Some courses i have taught over the years include journalistic writing courses, environmental communication, methodology, media, justice and human rights-just to mention a few
My current research project (2024-2025) illuminates Swedish journalist perceptions of constructive journalism, and its application thereof, in their daily news work. This project further interrogates the extent to which, and how elections can be covered constructively.
Overall, my research interests touch on socially responsible journalism (both theory and practice), constructive journalism, African journalism studies, comparative studies, mixed methods. I am affiliated with the media climate network
