About me
I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Human Geography at Stockholm University within the profile on Population Geography, Migration and GIS. My research interests include residential mobility, segregation, neighbourhood dynamics and migrant integration. I am specialized in quantitative methodologies and register data-based research. My PhD dissertation examined the spatial mobility and socioeconomic integration of international migrants in Sweden. It was defended in March 2020 and funded by the Swedish Initiative for Research on Microdata in the Social and Medical Sciences (SIMSAM). I hold a master’s degree in Human Geography from Stockholm University and have a background in political and social sciences from the University of Manchester and the Free University of Brussels.

Research
My postdoctoral research is situated within two interdisciplinary research programs:
- Migrant trajectories: Geographical Mobility, Family Careers, Employment, Education, and Social Insurance in Sweden, 1990–2016 (Funded by the Swedish Research Council for Health, Working Life and Welfare (FORTE); 2016-2022). My research explores the geographical trajectories of international migrants, and in particular refugees, as well as on the interactions between spatial mobility and socioeconomic integration.
- The Neighbourhood Revisited: Spatial polarization and social cohesion in contemporary Sweden (Funded by Riksbankens Jubileumsfond (RJ); 2019-2024). My focus lies on neighbourhood dynamics, as I seek to describe and explain the long-term trajectories of neighbourhoods in metropolitan regions.
In my PhD dissertation, Pathways and destinations, I examined the spatial and socioeconomic pathways of first-generation international migrants in Sweden since the turn of the 21st century. I employed statistical methods for longitudinal data analysis, using Swedish individual-level register data. My previous research included the topics of trafficking for forced labour and labour exploitation, migrants’ economic and social remittances and the access to housing in the Global South.
