About me
Marzia is a PhD student at the Department of Computer and Systems Sciences. Specializing in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), her work investigates the critical relationship between digital innovation and social impact. She is dedicated to exploring how design and technology can be leveraged to create more equitable digital spaces, ensuring that technical development aligns with the needs of diverse populations.
Marzia’s current research focuses on inclusive design and accessibility. She is specifically investigating the application of Augmented Reality (AR) to create accessible wayfinding solutions for blind and visually impaired individuals.
Her work adopts a holistic approach to technology, bridging the gap between implementation and social consequence. Her primary research areas include:
- Assistive Technology Development: Designing and developing AR applications that support independent navigation and spatial awareness for users with visual impairments.
- Societal Impact of Emerging Tech: Beyond development, she critically examines how these technologies integrate into users' daily lives.
- Interpersonal Dynamics: She analyzes how the adoption of assistive tools alters interpersonal interactions and social dynamics within broader society.
