About me

Maria is a doctoral student in Education. She has a Bachelor's degree from the Department of English Language and Literature at Aristotle University, Greece and she has worked as an English teacher. She moved to Sweden to pursue Master studies at Stockholm University and she earned her Master's degree in International and Comparative Education.

In her doctoral research, Maria examines the parent-teacher relationship in elementary schools in Sweden. She focuses on different groups of parents, e.g. parents of varying socioeconomic statuses and ethnic backgrounds. Her personal experiences and a previous study within the framework of her Master thesis led Maria to further research this particular topic. Through her study, she hopes to expand knowledge on how teachers and parents construct their relationship and the practices they employ to accomplish collaboration. In addition, participants may become aware of their own resources and networks and how these can mobilize their own motivation and goals both as professionals and parents. Maria is also part of the Adult Learning research seminar.
