About me

My reserach subject is phytoremediation; methods for utilizing plants for cleaning or stabilization of polluted air, soil or water. Within my project I'm focusing on plants that can be used for cleaning stormwater from heavy metals and chloride from road salt. These plants will be later on be placed in floating wetlands in stormwater ponds to improve the ponds removal capacity, which will lower the load of these pollutants to lakes and sea.

I primarely focus on zink, copper, lead and cadmium. By identifining the most efficent plants, their accumulation mechanisms, and how they react on abiotic factors such as temperature and salt concentration, knowledge how these can be used in practice is created.

The research is funded by Svenskt Vatten Utveckling and Svenska Byggbranchens utvecklingsfond.

I belong to Maria Greger's reserach group Plant Metal together with Tommy Landberg,  Sylvia Lindberg and Fadi Housari.
