Alignment in Extended Reality: Facilitator and Participant Repair Work in VR Experiences

This study examines role-based interactions during VR demonstrations, focusing on challenges posed by head-mounted displays (HMDs). Using video analysis from a 2024 conference, it identifies five types of alignment work—procedural, technological, conversational, visual, and physical—as well as strategies to prevent and manage breakdowns. The paper offers a framework and practical guidelines to support smoother VR demonstration experiences.

XR Design Approaches for Accessibility and Inclusion: A Systematic Literature Review

This study explores how accessibility is addressed in the design processes of XR (extended reality) technologies. Using a systematic literature review of 1937 articles, 55 were selected for in-depth analysis. The findings highlight current trends in how XR research integrates accessibility considerations, based on both quantitative and qualitative data.
