About me

I come from Poland and this is where my journey with science has started. In 2014 I took up studies in General Chemistry at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan. A year later I arrived to Sweden and started my studies at Stockholm University (SU) within the Erasmus+ exchange program. I eventually completed my undergraduate studies at SU, where I obtained the Bachelor degree in Chemistry in 2017. In 2019 I completed Master studies in Materials Chemistry at SU. My degree project on Determination of long-term properties of polystyrene used for medical device components was conducted in collaboration between SU and a pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca. I started the PhD studies under the supervision of Prof. Aji P. Mathew in October 2019.

Research

  • 3D printing of biopolymer hybrids and nanocomposites
  • Melt and gel printing
  • Water purification filters

On-going projects

Currently I am working on the project, which aims to fabricate 2D and 3D high flux monolithic water purification filters with gradient porosity, tortuous pathways and selective adsorption for water pollutants designated for commercial applications. One of the main objectivities of the project is the functionalization of the nanocellulose, nanochitin and its hybrids in order to develop a reliable process for 3D printing of biopolymer hybrids and nanocomposites, both by melt and gel printing. Other objectivities of the project include evaluation of the pore structure, adsorption mechanism and diffusion pathways as well as a development of insitu characterization methods for performance evaluation in aqueous medium.

The project is a part of the research conducted within the Wallenberg Wood Science Centre (WWSC).
