About me

Stefan Hesserud Persson is a PhD student at the Department of Political Science. His research centers on public opinion, unequal responsiveness and the housing market.

Before starting his PhD in 2022, Stefan worked as a news journalist for several years, among other things covering the Swedish housing market.

His dissertation project focuses on how political behavior and attitudes are affected by changes in the housing market, such as housing price developments, household debt levels and housing policy. He is also interested in how responsive policy-making is towards different segments of the population, based on income, home-ownership status and education, for example.

Stefan Hesserud Persson currently teaches in Swedish politics and will be teaching in quantitative methods.

Stefan Hesserud Persson is interested in how public opinion affects political output, and how policy-making in turn influence political behavior and attitudes. In his dissertation project he tries to investigate these linkages, using changes in the housing market over time as an explanatory variable.
