Suanne Mistel Segovia Tzompa
About me
PhD candidate in International Relations and Environmental Politics at the Department of Economic History and International Relations, Stockholm University. In 2011, she started her research career working on the intersection between international relations and environmental issues, focusing on Indigenous peoples. Suanne holds a BA in International Relations from the BUAP, Mexico and an MSc in Environmental Change and International Development from the University of Sheffield, UK.
She has been a research and teacher assistant in her home country, Mexico, and a trainee researcher in the UK. She has also experience collaborating with international NGOs to promote just and sustainable development in Mexico and Cameroon. She currently collaborates with the GlocalClim project, where she examines the legitimacy beliefs of Indigenous peoples vis-à-vis global adaptation governance institutions.
She is the PhD Representative in the IR Subject Council (ämnesråd) at the Department of Economic History and International Relations, Stockholm University. Suanne has also been a representative of Stockholm University at the UNFCCC 2019 COP25, 2021 COP26 and the 2022 intersessional meetings, held in Madrid, Glasgow and Bonn, respectively.
